Sustainable Products That Transform Tradition Into the Future
Revitalizing Geta with Recycled Textiles
QUON is a modern reinterpretation of geta (traditional Japanese wooden sandals), crafted from recycled textile waste. Unlike conventional wooden geta, QUON is quieter when walking and features vibrant textures that expand its role in fashion. Its replaceable sole design enhances durability while promoting higher textile recycling rates through continued use.
ISSUE
Advancing a Circular Economy By Traditional Craftsmanship
Japan generates over 2 million tons of textile waste annually, yet its recycling rate remains around 10%, significantly lower than Germany’s 65%. QUON contributes to improving this rate by allowing worn-out soles to be replaced, extending the product’s lifecycle and sustainability impact.
Creation
Functionality and Modern Design
Crafted from repurposed fabric waste, QUON gives discarded garments a new purpose, transforming them into geta that support someone's journey once again. The recycled textile material makes QUON quieter than traditional wooden geta, while its colorful textures add an element of personal expression. Wearing geta shifts awareness to one’s footsteps, offering a fresh perspective on everyday surroundings.
