VISIBLE AMBIENCE
The Visible World Is Shaped by the Invisible
A room at Art Hotel BnA WALL, designed to evoke a laboratory-like atmosphere. A single painting is suspended from the ceiling, scanned by a specialized microscope that moves across its surface, revealing an unseen microscopic world on a digital display.
Issue
The Smallest Room, The Smallest Artwork
BnA WALL in Nihonbashi features 14 distinct Art Rooms. The commission for Konel was to design the hotel’s smallest room—too compact for large-scale artwork. This project began with the challenge of reimagining art appreciation in a hotel setting, distinct from traditional galleries or museums.
Creation
A Microscopic World Viewed from Bed
While lying in bed, guests can look up as the microscope begins scanning. The painting uses standard acrylics alongside a custom-made pigment, revealing an intricate microscopic landscape. This immersive experience invites guests to engage with the hidden beauty of the minuscule, fostering a deeper appreciation for the invisible layers of reality. Upon checkout, this shift in perception lingers—an invitation to see the unseen in everyday life.
